The value of one thing

Be an eel.

I recently read a book called the Book of Eels, a memoir and educational work about the animal and the human history that ties into it.

To this day, eels have a foggy understanding. No one really knows about how they reproduce or what motivates them to travel long distances towards the end of their lives.

Aristotle thought that they came from mud because they would show up in puddles and random locations.

What caught my attention was listening to this book’s audio format and how eels are so dedicated to finding water and their home.

If you drop them off on the opposite side of the ocean, they will find their way back.

If they need to slither through mossy grass to find a puddle or another body of water, they will drive themselves to their goal.

I thought of creators and business leaders and how easy it is to get distracted.

Then I thought of myself: if I have one goal, am I pursuing it like an eel?

Am I focused and dedicated enough to get to my goals even if I have to drag myself through the mud?

Eels have taught me to focus on one thing and go all-in. My objectives shape my thoughts, and my actions filter through one thing.

Are you pursuing your mission like an eel?
