You Wrote an Article. Client Rejected It. Now What?

How to pivot content (for $) when you’ve run out of buyers.

If you’ve been freelancing for a while, you’ve had many bad experiences; especially when you get started and offer low prices for cheap clients.

You write something. They ask for edits.

You do them. They don’t like it.

They never pay.

If they saw a portfolio of your work beforehand, and the understanding was very clear, then it’s a red flag, and you should discontinue the business relationship. Clarify that since the product you produced was not paid for, you own it and can therefore publish the original components somewhere else.

Once you’ve ended the relationship, it’s time to do something with your hard-earned work. Can you salvage it?

You can use it as a piece in your portfolio when all else fails. But you’ve got bills to pay, and maybe you’re supporting a family. And you’ve got options.
